Glasses for Papua New Guinea - MUW Action

According to WHO, some 800 million people around the world have some type of visual impairment because they don’t have access to corrective eyeglasses‼
This problem also affects Papua New Guinea where 10,000 pairs of prescription eyeglasses are needed for the people living on the Esa'Ala District islands in the Solomon Sea.
To meet their needs, Medical University of Warsaw is organizing a collection of used eyeglasses called "Eyeglasses for Papua New Guinea‼"

About "Eyeglasses for Papua New Guinea”

Specially marked boxes are located in most campus buildings and University hospitals: Rectorate Building, Library and Computer Center, Didactic Centre, Banacha Hospital, Pediatric Hospital, University Dental Center, Sport and Rehabilitation Center, Infant Jesus Teaching Hospital, University Centre of Mother and Child's Health Ltd, Anatomicum Building, Biostructure Center, Dom Medyka and many more.

Drop off used but undamaged eyeglasses into these boxes. Drop off sunglasses too but they must have UV protection because only UV protection sunglasses can help prevent macular diseases.

The collection of used eyeglasses and UV protection sunglasses lasts until June 30, 2020.

The used eyeglasses and sunglasses will sail to Papua New Guinea in a container ship.Medical University of Warsaw doctors and students will follow in July 2020 to conduct eye examinations for everyone in the Esa'Ala District and distribute the used eyeglasses and sunglasses as needed.
