Dr. Beata Kruk from the Department and Chair of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery has received funding under the National Science Centre’s Miniatura 9 competition for a study assessing the impact of a new ARID3A gene variant (rs2238571) on the risk of development and progression of primary biliary cholangitis, in particular by analyzing its association with the severity of liver fibrosis.
To carry out the project, Dr. Beata Kruk will receive nearly PLN 50,000 from the NCN. The results of the study may contribute to the development of more precise diagnostic and prognostic methods in hepatology and provide a foundation for implementing personalized therapy in patients with primary biliary cholangitis. The project will also broaden knowledge of the pathomechanisms of cholestatic liver diseases and have a significant impact on the development of hepatology and immunogenetics by providing new data on the role of genetic factors and immunological markers in disease progression.
On the third ranking list of scientific activities qualified for funding in the MINIATURA 9 competition, 74 researchers were awarded.
