Midwifery student among winners of the Sigma Challenge 2026 competition

Weronika Skwarka, a first-year midwifery student at our university, won first place in the “Health and medicine” competition category. On May 22, she received the award during the official gala ceremony, accompanied by Dr. hab. Patryk Rzońca, Vice Dean for Dietetics and Emergency Medical Services, Head of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Dr. hab. Justyna Teliga-Czajkowska, Vice Dean for Midwifery at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

What did the competition involve?

The competition was open to adults under the age of 26 who were enrolled in first-cycle, second-cycle, or long-cycle master’s degree programs at Polish universities. Participants could enter one of six thematic categories: modern technologies; economics; business and finance; health and medicine; energy and industry; sport and sports marketing; and art and (pop) culture. They could also compete in a special “Omnibus” category, which tested general knowledge across all six thematic areas.

To win, participants had to provide as many correct answers as possible in a knowledge test consisting of various types of questions, including single-choice and multiple-choice questions. In the event of a tie, the speed of providing correct answers was also taken into account.
The competition was organized by XYZ, a new-category media outlet, and the PWN Scientific Publishing House. The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education.
