We know that choosing a degree programme is one of the most important decisions to be made at the beginning of adult life. No wonder, then, that it can be a difficult one. There are many factors to consider, different options to compare, and the strengths and weaknesses of each need to be carefully weighed. We also know how much time searching for information can take: browsing prospectuses, visiting websites, reading reviews and listening to recommendations. That is why, at the fair, we really wanted to help high school graduates organise the knowledge about medical studies and make the next step on their educational journey a little easier.
Representatives of the Office for Admissions and Teaching Affairs provided information about formal requirements that must be met to gain admission to their dream program, including which subjects they need to choose for the secondary school leaving examination, what the admission thresholds were last year, and whether an interview is required for WUM degree programmes.
There were many questions about what the first year of university is like. That is why pupils visiting our stand had the opportunity to speak to the students: Maria, Maria, Maja and Oliwia – who shared their experiences of classes, examinations, the pace of study and the amount of studying involved.
Those interested in studying at WUM also had the opportunity to attend presentations about the university. On the first day, the presentation was given by Dr hab. Longin Niemczyk, Secretary of the University Recruitment Committee, who provided a concise overview of the admission process and requirements. On the second day, the presentation was delivered by Aleksandra Ochnik from the Students’ Government, who talked about everyday life at the University and the opportunities available for our students to pursue their passions and interests.
The opening ceremony of the event, held at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, was attended by Marcin Kulasek, Minister of Science and Higher Education; Dariusz Standerski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Digital Affairs; Dr hab. Robert Zakrzewski, Director of the Central Examination Board; and Marek Michajłowicz, Deputy Director of the National Information Processing Institute.
