The ceremony was a tribute to the outstanding pioneers of Polish transplantology, in particular to Prof. Zbigniew Religa and his team, who performed the country's first successful heart transplant in Zabrze on November 5, 1985. The event attracted many distinguished guests.
During the gala, a panel discussion entitled “The success of Professor Religa's team in Zabrze – what happened 40 years ago and its significance today” was held. Among the participants were Prof. Michał Grąt and Prof. Mariusz Kuśmierczyk. Our professors were also honored with diplomas of recognition for their outstanding contribution to the development of Polish transplantology, their long-standing commitment, professionalism, and passion, which translate into saving human lives every day.
