Funding for the development of cooperation and the international promotion of science and the University brand

The Medical University of Warsaw has secured nearly half a million PLN in funding for the implementation of the project “WUM-Connect: International Promotion of Science and the WUM Brand and Development of Research Cooperation.” Thanks to the support of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), our University will enhance its international profile, expand research cooperation with partners from abroad and develop new tools supporting the internationalization of research.

The funding comes from the NAWA Welcome to Poland 2025 programme, co-financed by the European Funds for Social Development 2021–2027 programme.
The “WUM-Connect: International Promotion of Science and the WUM Brand and Development of Research Cooperation” project has received funding of PLN 494,996.00 and will be implemented in 2026–2028. Its aim is to further strengthen the position of the Medical University of Warsaw as a modern, international research centre by developing research cooperation, promoting the University’s research potential and raising staff competencies.

What will we do as part of the project?

There are four key activities ahead of us:

  1. Development of  the Welcome Point Research & Clinical Hub – a centre providing comprehensive support for international researchers and international research projects. 
  2. Launching the English-language WUM Research Gateway platform, showcasing the University’s scientific and research potential. 
  3. Delivery of a training programme for 90 WUM employees, covering internationalization, research cooperation, and support for international students, researchers and other members of the international community. 
  4. Organisation of an international scientific conference, “WUM Innovation Forum – Science Meets Global Health,” dedicated to contemporary demands in biomedical and clinical research. 

What will the University, students and staff gain?

The project will contribute to enhance WUM’s international profile on the international arena, develop research partnerships, and increase the quality of support offered to international researchers, PhD students and students. An important component of the initiative will also be the development of staff competencies and the creation of lasting tools to support the internationalization of research.
