Microcredentials serve as evidence of specific skills or knowledge acquired in a selected area, most often obtained through short educational formats or specialized educational modules. They are awarded based on clearly defined criteria. Microcredentials can function independently or be combined into larger sets of qualifications. Their digital form enables easy collection, presentation, and sharing of educational achievements, for example, with employers or training institutions.
Our university uses the Odznaka+ solution developed by the Educational Research Institute – National Research Institute. The implementation of microcredentials at WUM responds to the growing importance of short educational formats and the need to quickly verify competencies sought in the labor market. It is also another step toward modernizing WUM’s educational offer and increasing the transparency, comparability, and cross-border portability of students’ and graduates’ qualifications.
Further microcredentials will be issued to additional students participating in the Universities of the Future project (funded by the European Funds for Social Development Program 2021–2027), which focuses on developing future-oriented competencies among students. They will also be awarded to participants in the Summer School of Preventive Medicine project (funded by NAWA’s SPINAKER Intensive International Teaching Programs).
