Fair of Scientific Clubs – a hundred opportunities for development

One hundred scientific clubs, dozens of topics and an opportunity for interesting conversations. On October 13, 2026, students of the Medical University of Warsaw could talk to representatives of the clubs, learn about their activities and see what opportunities for development came from getting involved in science. The fair was organized by the board of the Student Scientific Society.

From surgery to dietetics

There are over 200 scientific clubs at WUM. Due to the limited space in the Didactic Center, not all of them could be presented during the fair, but as many as 100 of them introduced their activities. Students could get to know very different profiles of clubs: surgical, cardiological, dermatological, pharmaceutical, anatomical, dietetic. It is impossible to list them all.

It is no coincidence that the event is organized at the beginning of the academic year. This allows students to learn the offer of clubs and join the one of their choice starting from the very first meetings. And there is a lot of interest every year. Also this time, the lobby on the ground floor and the first floor of the Didactic Center could barely accommodate all participants.

It was possible to organize the fair thanks to the involvement of the members of scientific clubs. It was the students who told their colleagues what they did on a daily basis, what projects they participated in and in what areas one could gain the first scientific experience.

Not just acquiring knowledge

It is worth emphasizing that activities in clubs not only allow you to explore a selected field of medicine, pharmacy or health sciences. It also gives the opportunity to verify whether the interest in a specific topic may turn into a path of future development. It is a space to look for your own interests, try new things and take on new challenges.
Scientific clubs also help develop soft skills, especially teamwork and communication. They will be especially important in future work with patients, both in the ward, at the patient's bedside and in the office.

Projects, people and mentors

Engaging in scientific activities is also an opportunity to meet inspiring people and make new friends. Students can meet mentors who will help them choose the direction of further development and show opportunities associated with scientific activity.

Practical elements were also part of the fair. In addition to talks with representatives of the clubs, students could try their hand at surgical suturing, blood collection and first aid.
