Digital education for future nurses

Our university, together with the Medical University of Łódź and the Medical University of Gdańsk, is implementing the E4N.EU – NursingOntos (PORTO) project, which changes the way nurses are educated, making it even more practical. The coordinator on behalf of WUM is Dr. hab. Lena Serafin from the Department of Clinical Nursing.

As part of the project, the e4Nursing platform was created to support students and educators. It is a tool that replicates real medical documentation. Thanks to it, nursing students learn to: plan care in a digital environment, document healthcare services according to international standards, and make clinical decisions using data.
This is the first large-scale project in Poland that connects medical universities, develops digital education, and prepares staff for work in e-health systems.
The project is carried out as part of a European initiative in cooperation with European partners, including CIDESI – ESEP (Centro de Investigação em Sistemas de Informação em Enfermagem, Escola Superior de Enfermagem do Porto) in Portugal. In Poland, the activities are coordinated by the Accredited ICNP® Centre at the Medical University of Łódź, which acts as an expert center.

An infographic presenting the e4Nursing Platform as a digital innovation in nursing education and practice. On the left side, it describes the platform’s functionalities, scientific foundations, and objectives, including support for the nursing care process, the creation of care plans, and the development of digital competencies. On the right side, there is a map of Europe highlighting the partner countries—Iceland, Norway, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Poland, and Portugal—connected by lines representing collaboration. The overall design is maintained in a turquoise-and-white color scheme and features the logos of e4Nursing and the European Union.
