The Center for World University Rankings evaluated nearly 21,000 universities from around the world. The ranking included 2,000 of the best, including 40 Polish universities and research institutes of varying profiles. Nine medical universities were included in the ranking. MUW is second only to the Piastów Śląskich University of Medical Sciences in Wrocław (8th place in the list of national universities) by 0.2 points.
We educate the future leaders
The Medical University of Warsaw is one of the largest medical universities in the country. Our offer includes 16 fields of study in Polish, 2 in English, as well as doctoral studies, postgraduate studies, SGH-WUM MBA in Health Care as well as further training and specialization courses.
Our graduates achieve very good results in state examinations, students and doctoral students receive scholarships, honors and awards in many fields, researchers conduct innovative projects in diverse areas of modern medicine. The staff consists of 1,890 academic teachers, including 207 titular professors, renowned specialists in medicine, pharmacy and health sciences at home and abroad.
MUW owes its strong position on the educational map to its dynamic development in three areas: teaching, research and clinical practice, on the one hand, and to its fidelity to the best university traditions, on the other.

About the CWUR ranking
The ranking has been published since 2012. The methodology is based on the following indicators:
- Quality of education, measured by the number of university’s alumni who have earned academic honors relative to the university’s size (25 %)
- Graduate employment, measured by the number of university’s alumni who have held top management positions in the world's largest companies relative to the university’s size (25%)
- Faculty measured by the number of faculty members who have received top academic distinctions (10%).
- Research:
- Research Output: measured by the total number of research articles (10%)
- High-Quality Publications: measured by the number of research articles appearing in top-tier journals (10%)
- Influence: measured by the number of research articles appearing in highly-influential journals (10%)
- Citations: measured by the number of highly-cited research articles (10%)
