The competition was held during the 3rd Congress of the International Society of Pediatric Respiratory Diseases INSPIRED, the most important scientific event dedicated to respiratory diseases in children, held June 26-29, 2025 in Barcelona.
The subject of the awarded work
Magdalena Grochowska presented a paper entitled “Early Diagnosis of Necrotizing Pneumonia in Children: The Role of Lung Ultrasound and Laboratory Markers,” co-authored and supervised by Prof. Katarzyna Krenke and Dr. Agnieszka Strzelak. The subject of the award-winning paper concerns improving the diagnostic process of one of the most serious complications of out-of-hospital pneumonia in children - necrotizing pneumonia. The study highlights the importance of early use of lung ultrasound and laboratory indicators in faster diagnosis of this disease. The project is in line with current clinical needs for improving the diagnosis and treatment of severe lower respiratory tract infections in children.
Magdalena Grochowska's participation in the congress and the award she received are not only a confirmation of the high level of research conducted at MUW, but also a testament to the commitment of young scientists to the development of modern medicine based on rapid diagnosis and an individual approach to the patient.
