Strategic talks on the future of medical education

The Convention of Chancellors and Bursars of the Medical Universities, organized by the Medical University of Warsaw, was held on June 11-13, 2025. The event brought together representatives of the administration of medical universities from all over Poland and became an important forum for exchanging experiences and discussing the financing and development of medical education.

The convention was officially opened by Professor Rafal Krenke, Rector of MUW and Dr. Marta Kijak-Bloch, MUW Chancellor.

The meeting covered key topics related to:

  • a new model for determining subsidy amounts,
  • funding opportunities under the National Reconstruction Plan (NRP),
  • strategic development of medical universities in Poland.

An important part of the program was the panels with representatives of the Ministry of Health - Mariusz Klencki and Piotr Jagielski from the Department of Medical Personnel Development - who presented proposed changes to the algorithm of the distribution of the subvention as well as the challenges of using NRP funds.

The participants also had the opportunity to listen to the speeches of:

  • Daniel Sliż, MD, PhD, who spoke about building a healthy and sustainable academic community,
  • Jaroslaw Kulczycki, who lead a workshop on media communication and modern information tools in university management.

The convention stressed the importance of integrating the university management community and the need to jointly develop financial and organizational policies that meet the challenges of modern medical education. The meeting was also an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Health.
