The awarded scientist serves as the Head of the Chair and Clinic of Dermatology and is the honorary President of the Polish Dermatological Society. She has received the 2025 Golden OTIS award for her lifetime achievements in dermatology.

Professor Rudnicka is an outstanding Polish dermatologist and a pioneer in trichoscopy, a non-invasive method for diagnosing hair and scalp diseases; her team was the first in the world to describe it. She shares her knowledge by posting educational videos on YouTube. The decision to reward Professor Rudnicka was made by a 78-person board of the award, comprised of renowned Polish healthcare professionals.

The “Golden OTIS” Confidence Award is awarded to professionals such as physicians, pharmacists, journalists, as well as to patient associations. As its founders put it, it is “an award with a mission, which recognizes and supports healthcare areas that may have been overlooked by policy makers.” The plebiscite has been held since 2004 by the Golden OTIS Confidence Award Institute in cooperation with the “Świat Lekarza” magazine as well as portals pacjenci.pl, nazdrowie.pl, zlotyotis.pl, swiatlekarza.pl and medycynawpolsce.pl, and healthcare professional organizations in Poland.

This year, the statuettes were awarded to 30 professionals in seven categories. Apart from Professor Rudnicka, the lifetime achievement awards were also presented to: Professor Marek Hartleb (lifetime achievements in hepatology), Professor Tomasz Mach (lifetime achievements in gastroenterology), and Professor Mansur Rahnama-Hezavah (lifetime achievements in dentistry).

The statuettes were presented during the 22nd Golden OTIS Confidence Award Gala on April 24. The ceremony was accompanied by three “golden speeches”. One of them, titled “How innovative therapies change patients’ lives – the example of SMA”, was given by Professor Anna Kostera-Pruszczyk, Head of MUW Department of Neurology and Chairperson of the Rare Diseases Council.
