Who are the winners?
The winning MUW team includes fourth-year students of medical analytics: Szczepan Wąsik, Salem Hamdan, and Wiktor Grosz, who also belong to the Student Society for Laboratory Diagnosticians at the MUW.
Apart from the statuette and prizes, our team was also awarded the right to host the tenth edition of the competition next year.
What did the competition involve?
The contest included six areas: microbiology, molecular diagnostics, laboratory diagnostics, hematology, toxicology, and general analytics, where both theoretical knowledge and practical diagnostic skills were tested.
“The National Diagnostic Simulations are a unique competition that tests how well the students of medical analytics are prepared to work as laboratory diagnosticians, which is a profession of public trust,” emphasized Professor Olga Ciepiela, Vice Dean for Medical Analytics at the MUW Faculty of Pharmacy. “The success of our students is testament to both their vast knowledge and excellent skills developed during the course of their studies, but also to the top quality of teaching at our university’s course in medical analytics.
Where and when the event was held
The Ninth National Diagnostic Simulations took place at the Wrocław Medical University between May 7 and 9. This year’s edition was organized by the Student Society for Laboratory Diagnosticians from the Wrocław Medical University. The atmosphere during the contest was that of healthy competition and great commitment.
Not the first podium
“This year’s win is already the second for the students of medical analytics at our university who are members of the Student Society for Laboratory Diagnosticians. In 2019, a group of female students, then in their fourth and fifth years, won the Fifth National Diagnostic Simulations,” recalls Sławomir Białek, PhD, mentor of the Student Society for Laboratory Diagnosticians.
