The event was hosted by Professor Mariusz Gujski, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Head of the Department of Public Health, who welcomed the participants to the event. The Dean stressed that the congress is the first event in Poland that is regularly dedicated to health care and public health, and its history dates back to 2013.
The guests were also welcomed by the Rector of our university, Prof. Rafal Krenke.
- The role of medical universities in the process of shaping the health care system and its various issues should be very large and can be very helpful - the Rector noted - I am convinced that this conference will be very inspiring, and I wish that these discussions will result in concrete conclusions that can be implemented in our system, in various aspects: diagnostics, personnel prevention and many others.
Topics and experts
The event is a forum for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and experience. This year, the following topics were covered:
- Key health policy tasks for the ruling coalition in the current term - including the effective implementation of priorities in areas such as availability of services, digitization and the medical workforce.
- Modern, rational and patient-centered healthcare - how to design a system that addresses real patient needs and improves the patient's health experience.
- Systemic change in attitudes toward prevention - opening session with an inspiring power speech about the My Health program, which is designed to replace the existing 40+ prevention and effectively strengthen the health-seeking attitudes of Poles.
- Rare diseases - diagnosis, access, decisions. A system that doesn't lose the patient - from organizational challenges to therapy funding.
- Diseases of civilization - the invisible pandemic of the 21st century - how to counter the epidemic of: diabetes, obesity, allergies and cardiovascular diseases in society.
- The pharmacy market in Poland - its role in the health care system, the need for regulatory changes and strengthening the position of the pharmacist.
- Private capital in the public system - opportunities and threats of synergies between the public and private sectors.
