Andrea Horvath, MD, PhD, of the Department of Pediatrics with the “Scientist of the Future” award

The award was given to our scientist for her lifelong work in the field of food allergy in children, including her pioneering research on standardizing food ladders to support tolerance acquisition in children with severe allergies to cow's milk and chicken egg proteins. And for implementing the Medical Research Agency's ESCAPE-PL project on early infant supplementation in the prevention of cow's milk protein allergy.

Scientists and innovators with a vision for the future

The Scientist of the Future Award honors Polish and foreign scholars who carry out innovative scientific projects, the results of which may result in positive changes in the near or distant future.

The statuette is awarded by the Center for Intelligent Development and the Intelligent Development Forum Foundation during the Intelligent Development Forum - an event that promotes innovative projects at the intersection of science, medicine, business and government. The presentation of this year's award took place on June 9.

About the ESCAPE-PL project

Three researchers, Prof. Hanna Szajewska, Aleksandra Wesołowska, MD, PhD, and Andrea Horvath, MD, PhD, are behind the ESCAPE-PL project, which demonstrates that female power in science is changing the future of medicine. The goal of the ESCAPE-PL project is to evaluate whether early supplementation with various nutritional interventions (modified cow's milk, amino acid formula, breastmilk from a milk bank or pascalized breastmilk from a milk bank) can be an effective strategy for primary prevention of cow's milk protein allergy in breastfed infants.
