Held online on April 25–26, the congress brought together leading specialists from Ukraine, Poland, as well as guests from the United States and several European countries. It provided a unique platform for the exchange of experiences and the latest scientific advancements.
An Event of Strategic Importance
The congress was officially opened by the rectors of both universities – Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (NAMSU), Professor Yurii Leonidovych Kuchyn, and Professor Rafał Krenke. Their personal participation underscored the high caliber of the event and its strategic importance for the medical communities of both nations.
The congress primarily attracted otorhinolaryngology professionals from both countries. Scientific sessions and workshops were moderated by: Congress President, First Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical, and Postgraduate Education at NMU, Corresponding Member of NAMSU and the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine (NAESU), Professor Oleksandr Mykolaiovych Naumenko; Congress Vice President, Head of the Chair and Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the Medical University of Warsaw, Professor Kazimierz Niemczyk, and Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at NMU, Professor Yulia Valeriivna Deeva.
A decade of collaboration
This Polish-Ukrainian scientific collaboration dates back to 2015, when both universities signed a memorandum of understanding. Over the past ten years, the initiative has enabled numerous Ukrainian otorhinolaryngologists to complete internships at MUW, and facilitated visits by faculty members from MUW’s Chair and Department of Otorhinolaryngology to Kyiv. This exchange has enriched both clinical experience and scientific achievements on both sides.
The first congress was held in 2018, and despite the challenging circumstances of wartime, the event continues to unite researchers and grow in significance. This year’s edition attracted approximately 2,000 physicians, who gained access to up-to-date medical information and participated in high-quality workshops.
International events like this not only highlight the importance of scientific diplomacy in today’s world but also demonstrate the unwavering commitment of both universities to advancing professional development and strengthening academic cooperation—even under the most difficult conditions.
