3rd edition of the WUM Participatory Budget concluded!

Two projects won this edition: a student project that will increase the number of student lockers at the Central Teaching Hospital on Banacha Street, and a staff project that will create a green well-being zone on the Banacha Campus.

The winning student project, submitted by the WUM Student Council, received 472 votes. It includes the purchase of 150 lockers, five changing booths, and the modernization of the space in the corridor connecting the hospital and the Faculty of Pharmacy.

The project to create a green rest and relaxation zone received 147 votes. It was prepared by employees of the Department of Environmental Hazard Prevention, Allergology and Immunology. The green well-being zone is to be built on the Banacha Campus between the building of the Centre for Preclinical Research and the University Dental Centre. The initiative is part of the university’s activities within the EUniWell alliance.

What projects were available for voting

The list of projects qualified for voting included eight student projects and four staff projects. All members of the university community could vote. Students and doctoral candidates who are not WUM employees chose from student projects, while staff members and doctoral candidates who are also WUM employees voted for staff projects. Each voter could select three initiatives they considered the best. 

Student projects included:

  • Increasing the number of student lockers at the Banacha CSK hospital
  • Electronic key storage system for student changing rooms at DSK
  • Focus and Development Zone – renovation of the quiet study room in Dormitory No. 1
  • Campus Stop – Green Integration Zone
  • Chill & Study Zone – Ciołka
  • “Intensive Well-being & Research” social and teaching space for students at the 1st Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, UCK WUM
  • Study rooms in Dormitory No. 2
  • Renovation of the gym in Dormitory No. 2.

Staff projects included:

  • Relaxation Garden – green well-being zone
  • Employee Zone – improving comfort and work quality through the modernization of social rooms in the Rector’s building
  • Drinking water fountains with filters and solar chargers for mobile devices near benches in front of the Rector’s Office and Didactic Centre
  • Social space (Balance) for students and staff of the Ciołka Campus 27.

In total, nearly 2,500 votes were cast. 

The Rector approved the selected initiatives, and now it is time for their implementation. 

The WUM Participatory Budget is a competition aimed at improving the efficiency of work and study at WUM. It started in November last year. All information about the current and previous editions is available at budzetpartycypacyjny.wum.edu.pl
