The contest was held on May 25–26 at the Medical Department of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin. WUM was represented by Anna Osiak, Jakub Mita, and Maciej Zyz, both in the individual and team categories.
These students had been prepared for the contest by Dr. Michał Kowara and remained under the academic and didactic supervision of Prof. Agnieszka Cudnoch-Jędrzejewska and Dr. Liana Puchalska from the Department of Experimental and Clinical Physiology, WUM.
The individual contest involved each participant first taking a 100-question multiple-choice test. Ten people with the best scores advanced to the final, in which they answered short questions requiring detailed knowledge on human physiology. The winner of this part of the contest was Maciej Zyz.
Team contests were held at the Medical Simulation Center. The teams analyzed clinical cases and answered additional questions that assessed their skills in using their knowledge of physiology in situations mimicking clinical practice.
Success once again
It’s worth emphasizing that this is yet another edition of this contest which students from our university completed with distinctions. In 2024, Wiktoria Kosiorowska took the second place in the individual ranking, and in previous years, students from our university also stood on the podium.
“The success of Maciej Zyz is a source of pride for our Department. We are pleased that our students once again demonstrated a very high level of knowledge, commitment, and preparation,” emphasized Prof. Agnieszka Cudnoch-Jędrzejewska, Head of the Department of Experimental and Clinical Physiology, WUM.
