The event took place on June 5 and 6 at Queen Mary University in London. It was organized by VR-Haptic Thinkers, a consortium that supports the development of education through research and deployment of VR-haptic technologies (combining virtual reality with touch technology), promoting science-industry collaboration and open exchange of knowledge.
Alicja Wróblewska took second place in the competition, but Claudia Wicik, Zofia Maliszewska and Alicja Szmarowska were also among the top winners. The students had been preparing for the trip by practicing their skills on haptic simulators using elements of virtual reality (VR) under the watchful eye of Dr. Małgorzata Ponto-Wolska and Dr. Łukasz Zadrożny from the Department of Dental Propedeutics and Prophylaxis MUW.
- These types of initiatives show that the use of modern technologies in didactics, as well as international activity, bring incredible results and motivate further activities. This drives the development of the university and shapes the competence of future dentists - stresses Dr. Malgorzata Ponto-Wolska.
Dr. Ponto-Wolska gave a lecture at the conference on the use of virtual reality in didactics, summarizing MUW's experience with the Time 2 MUW project.
The participants from London are already looking forward to next year's competition in the USA, whereas Dr. Ponto-Wolska and Dr. Zadrożny are waiting for those willing to participate in similar events.
