MUW's debut in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021
In the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the Medical University of Warsaw was recognized as one of the two best Polish universities (ex aequo with the University of Warsaw), and is the sole Polish medical university included in the ranking.
The Transfer of Authority Ceremony at the Medical University of Warsaw
On August 31, 2020, Prof. Mirosław Wielgoś, Rector (2016-2020) presented his successor, Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, with the rector’s insignia (a chain, scepter and ring).  The transfer of authority ceremony took place in the University’s Senate room to mark the beginning of the new Rector’s 4-year term starting September 1, 2020.

Daniel Śliż, PhD – Assistant Professor from the Third Department of Internal Diseases and Cardiology of the Medical University of Warsaw received the nomination to the European Association of Preventive Cardiology Young Ambassador 2020-2022 for Poland.

Transportation "in utero" and implantation of the pacemaker in a premature baby during the first hours of life
Doctors of University Clinic Centre of Medical University of Warsaw set the highest standards of care for a child with congenital heart block. On July 17 2020, Dr. Michał Buczyński, MDPhD from the Department of Cardiac and General Pediatric Surgery UCC MUW, headed by Prof. Maciej Karolczak, and Dr. Piotr Wieniawski, MDPhD from the Department of Pediatric Cardiology and General Pediatrics UCC MUW, headed by Prof. Bożena Werner, successfully performed an implantation of a pacemaker to a premature infant, delivered at week 30 of fetal life, with congenital complete atrioventricular block.
Our University’s student  wins the Polish edition of the EUCYS 2020 competition
Sebastian Machera - a first-year student of medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw and biotechnology at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, won the first prize at this year's Polish Edition of the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS). It is a prestigious event that allows young undergraduates studying science to present their scholar achievements.

On 8 July 2020 in the Chair and Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery UCC MUW, headed by Prof. Krzysztof Zieniewicz, the surgeons performed a liver transplantation using an innovative method - hypothermic mechanical extracorporeal perfusion and oxygenation of the liver in hypothermia - D-HOPE.
A review of "Phage Therapy: A Practical Approach" published in a prestigious international periodical
“Lancet Infectious Diseases”, the world's leading magazine on infectious diseases (IF = 24,446), published, in its May Issue, a review of the book titled "Phage Therapy: A Practical proach", edited by scientists associated with the Medical University of Warsaw: Prof. Andrzej Górski, Ryszard  Międzybrodzki and Jan Borysowski. The review called "Bringing phage therapy soon to a clinic near you” was written by Stephen T. Abendon – an acknowledged expert in this field.

The latest edition of the Journal Citation Reports (JRC) database includes chief editors of Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) Editors' Club periodicals. The MUW Editors' Club was founded in 2016.
English Division Graduation Ceremony
On July 3, 2020, at 1 P.M. CET, Medical University of Warsaw English Division Class of 2020 took the Doctor’s oath online and pledged to serve humanity notwithstanding race, religious beliefs, gender or other. The MD has been conferred upon 108 English Division graduates from the 4-Year and the 6-Year Medical Programs.
