On 27 November, Dominik Golicki, Ph.D., from the Faculty and Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, received the title of Honorary Professor from Prof. Erzsebet Kovacs, Dean of the Faculty of Economics of Corvinus University in Budapest. On this occasion, Dr. Golicki gave a lecture on “Health status assessment for health economic evaluations: opportunities and challenges in Central and Eastern European countries”.
Medical University of Warsaw performed its first Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Implantation of Melody-Medtronic prosthesis
1st Chair and Department of Cardiology and I Cardiac Surgery Clinic successfully conducted Medical University of Warsaw’s first transcatheter pulmonary valve implantation (PAVTI - pulmonary artery valve transcatheter implantation). The team of surgeons included Prof. Zenon Huczek, prof. Tomasz Moszura and Radosław Wilimski, M.D., Ph.D.  As a result, Medical University of Warsaw joined the distinguished group of centers in Poland that carry out PAVTI on adult patients.

His Royal Highness, Crown Prince of Perlis Malaysia met with Medical University of Warsaw English Division students
On 21 November, 2018, Prof. Bożena Werner, Dean of English Division medical program at Medical University of Warsaw hosted His Royal Highness, Crown Prince of Perlis Malaysia, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail on behalf of HM Prof. Mirosław Wielgoś, Rector of Medical University of Warsaw.

Associate Professor Jolanta Kunikowska, Ph.D., M.D., Department of Nuclear Medicine, Medical University of Warsaw, elected president elect of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM). Jolanta Kunikowska, Ph.D was elected during EANM 2018 Congress October 13-17 in Düsseldorf. Prof. Kunikowska will serve as president elect in 2019-2020 and as president of EANM in 2021-2022.
a letter of intent
On October 16, the signing of a letter of intent regarding the establishment of a federation relationship between Medical University of Warsaw and University of Warsaw took place at Kazimierzowski Palace.  This rapprochement will result in better use of each university’s potential. Together, the knowledge and experience of specialists from both universities and access to both universities’ infrastructure will lead to conducting more extensive scientific research projects that address the challenges of today’s world.
Inauguration of the new academic year 2018/2019
The inauguration of Medical University of Warsaw 2018/2019 academic year took place on October 2, 2018. At the invitation of Medical University of Warsaw Rector, Prof. Mirosław Wielgoś, the inaugural lecture was given by the President of the Warsaw Medical Society (Towarzystwo Lekarskie Warszawskie), Associate Professor Jerzy Jurkiewicz, who paid tribute to the Polish Army in his speech, on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of Poland’s Independence.
Professor Roberto Romero visits Medical University of Warsaw
Prof. Mirosław Wielgoś, Rector of Medical University of Warsaw, met with world renown expert in preterm delivery, Prof. Roberto Romero. Prof. Romero is an outstanding researcher and teacher in the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancies, prenatal diagnosis, amniocentesis and infection as causes of preterm delivery and Cerebral Palsy.
English Division Student Government (EDSG) organized a fun and practical Orientation Week 2018
From Sept. 26-29, new first year English Division MD and DMD students as well as incoming ERASMUS and transfer students took part in information sessions and social activities aimed at making them feel welcome and at ease at Medical University of Warsaw, their new home.
