MUW Open Fulbright Lecture Series Launch

The first MUW Open Fulbright Lecture took place on Friday, October 18 at Medical University of Warsaw’s Main Library. Students from the English Division and ERASMUS as well as other auditors filled the lecture room to listen to Dr. József Böröcz’s talk on the Sociology of Global Health and Inequality.

Dr. Böröcz addressed the issue of inequality in health care throughout the history of mankind. While the discrepancy in life expectancy has been shrinking between the wealthy and the poor; the colonizers and colonialized, there still exists a 10 to 20 years gap. A stimulating discussion broke out after the lecture about ways to further reduce and eliminate this discrimination in access to health care services.

The next MUW Open Fulbright Lecture Series will take place Friday, October 25.  The speaker will be Frankee Lyons who will present her research on Jewish Belonging and the Polish Road to Socialism, 1953-60.

The Dean’s Office of the English Division and Fulbright Polska invites the entire MUW student community (students enrolled in medical studies in Polish and English), faculty and staff, to attend the MUW Open Fulbright Lecture Series, every Friday at 5:00 p.m.  The goal of the lecture series is to broaden our knowledge and understanding beyond the confines of medicine and our daily work.
Lectures are delivered by American Fulbright Scholars to Poland who will touch upon a variety of academic disciplines from fine arts and theatre to history and politics.

The full program will be made available on https://www.facebook.com/FulbrightPolska
